The Great-Amazon-Author-Meltdown-Trainwreck of 2009

Dec 17, 2009 11:14

Author Candice Sams has a novel on Amazon.com, Electra Galaxy's Mr. Interstellar Feller (Love Spell). Someone then posted a not-favorable review of the novel on the site.

Ms. Sams proceeded to EXPLODE all over the comment thread. 0_o

Under the name Niteflyr One, her first post in reply to the review sees her already brandishing the long knives. By post #8, Niteflyr One is identified as the author. By page 15, she starts getting SERIOUSLY weird. On page 16, people who apparently just came-for-the-show-and-stayed-for-the-trolling threw more gasoline on the flames, and Ms. Sams is claiming that she was "threatened" (she has not produced any proof of such threats, and I saw none in the thread). By page 17, Ms. Sams is threatening to contact the FBI. And we just journey further into the Twilight Zone from there.

As of right now, there are 268 comments (27 pages) on the thread.

She has badmouthed her fans, her editor, and her agent in the course of all of this. My guess is that she has taken a torch to her writing career, as I've already seen blogs entries by editors who, based on their comments about this, will probably never wish to work with her.

First rule of any creative endeavor... NEVER REPLY TO A BAD REVIEW!

(Edit: Incorrect spelling of author's name corrected.)
