ROUND ONE: RESUSCITATION
Breathing new life into old cliches
Hey shippers! This is the moment you've all been waiting for: the VERY FIRST MAIN ROUND of the HSO!
Yes, these prompts are going to be kid-themed, some more than others.
The idea with this prompt is pretty simple. You know all those fandom cliches? Yeah, don't even front. Magical pregnancies, arranged marriages, high school AUs, bodyswaps...these are the bread and butter of all fandoms! But just in case you need a little inspiration,
here's a big list of inter-fandom cliches and
here’s another.
Of course, some of these are more relevant to Homestuck than others! For instance, if you submit something with Kanaya in it and then claim she fits the 'vampire' cliche even if vampirism doesn’t play a major part in the story, you're kind of missing the point. It gets a little tricky with how Hussie lampshades most fandom cliches, we know, but the idea is to take something that a lot of people have done in all seriousness...and do it again. In an AWESOME manner, whether that’s by subverting the terms of the trope or playing it completely straight.
Also, please note that crossovers are NOT ALLOWED.
If you are unsure whether something counts or not, just ask! You can reach us at homestuck.shipping AT gmail DOT com.
Remember, people will be asked to consider how well your submission fits the spirit of the prompt.
All submissions must be created new for this round.
This challenge will run until
11:59PM EST August 10. (the link says '11:55' because it only goes in 5-minute increments) If your Palhoncho sends it in after that time according to the gmail timestamp, we cannot guarantee that your submission will be posted in a timely manner.
Requirements
Fic/meta must be 800-3000 words. We respect your desire to create a multichaptered epic, but there are a lot of teams and nobody has time to read through all that much! This is the only category which has an upper limit.
Art must be at least 600x800px.
Vids must be over 45 seconds.
Fanmixes must be over 10 songs, or longer than 35 minutes.
If you come up with anything else, or any combination of the above, we are trusting you to be able to gauge how much you can handle and be sensible!
If you are submitting photos of things, please try to make sure they are decently clear/well-lit! We will not be doing image/color correction for you, and it will not be our fault if people can't make out what your submission is. Also, we suggest but do not require that you submit 3-5 photos of whatever it is from different angles, just so we can get a better look at it!
Submission Format
This section is for Palhonchos' reference!
All submissions should be emailed to homestuck.shipping AT gmail DOT com. Text submissions may be included in the body of the email; art and other things should be sent as attachments. If you would like to host things elsewhere for us to access, you can certainly do that as well.
