Last Monday's radio club meeting was an informal fix-it affair. I went along, chatted a while, and came home relatively early.
I'd ended up having to give a talk at Tuesday evening's radio club meeting, so I put together something about the various places I've taken my radios to. I think I'd have done better to have more pictures and fewer words, but it seemed to go not too badly...
I got a bit of gardening done on Wednesday. The front hedge now looks marginally less disreputable.
Thursday morning's Morse practice went about average. I got a bit more gardening done during the afternoon. Of course, it being winter, the garden bin (which is now full) won't actually get emptied for a fortnight, but as it's now full I've got a fortnight during which I won't feel so guilty about not doing much gardening...
Friday evening's trip to Gravesend was an evening's chat (with cookies). Very pleasant, and the roads were fine, too.
I was a bit slow getting started on Saturday, but having taken a look at the weather forecasts I decided quite late in the day to go over to the Downs above Oxted and replace the geocache I'd retrieved for drying-out last the week before. Gratifyingly, someone actually went and found it the following day.
Here's a photo taken from a viewpoint near the cache's hiding place.
Sunday was day one for an Intermediate training course at the radio club. It was the practical-heavy day, and with twelve students, it was quite hard work, but seemed to go pretty well. At least one of the students managed to get all the items on the practical sheet (including the kit-building one) signed off. By the end of the day I was a little tired.
Today has been a slow one. There's been a bit of snow, as the photo above shows, though nothing like as much as some predictions were suggesting.
I tried listening for the Monday evening Morse practice, but there was enough interference to make it nearly impossible, even with a very narrow filter.
There's a lot more snow predicted for the next couple of days, so much so that the astronomical society has even cancelled its meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday. I wonder how accurate the forecasts will turn out...
