Wednesday was a relatively quiet day. I went out around the ranch with my brother in the morning. I tested a couple of radio antennas, and looked around some parts of the ranch where problems had been reported. In the evening we went out for another sunset drive.
On Thursday it was time to pack up and move on. Following my brother's advice, we took a different route from Nyaharuru to Nakuru, and got to our destination quite a bit earlier than expected.
On Friday we spent a little while driving around near the lake, and visited a camp site where friends were camping. In the evening, having been given some good information, we headed out again, and found the sanctuary's resident lions out in the open close to the road.
On Saturday morning we went out for an early drive round the sanctuary, and then, after breakfast, packed the car and headed home. We took our time, and the traffic wasn't fast, so it took quite a bit longer than expected. When we got home I set about putting up my usual antenna, and more or less managed it before sunset.
We were woken at local midnight by all manner of flashes and bangs.
This morning I managed to catch the local radio society's Net, and then set about hanging the antenna a little better. The radio society's chairman dropped by for coffee around 11am, and my aunt came round for lunch a bit after noon. I finally mostly had the antenna sorted by about mid-afternoon, but band conditions were very poor.
Maybe I'll actually put the radio to use later this evening...
