"Walking Elizabeth Home" Cam/Elizabeth Fic (12/12)

Disclaimer: I don't own Stargate of course, the grand high Mucky Mucks do, nevertheless, no copyright infringement is intended. No money was made from this, and any similarity to any other story not my own is coincidence.

Title: Walking Elizabeth Home
Genre: Fluff/romance; smut
Rating: PG, maybe PG-13
Timeline: Sometime early season 4 for SGA
Note: Spoilers for the cast change that most know about, but just so you're warned, I used the spoilers and ran with them. Also, while the fic is rated NC-17 over-all, I think that maybe you could read everything but those parts and still get the gist of the story, since, honestly, it's just a relationship plot.

“We reach Earth tomorrow,” Elizabeth said quietly, watching the strange blur of color outside of the porthole window as the Odyssey slipped through space.

“Mmm,” Cameron said, propping himself up on a elbow behind her so that he could brush hair away from Elizabeth’s temple. As his fingers slipped through the strands, he was saddened to feel the moisture of tears on his fingertips.

“You still miss Atlantis?” he half asked, half murmured.

Elizabeth continued to lay looking out the window. She made a small sound of assent. “I think a part of me will always miss Atlantis,” she admitted.

Then slowly, she turned in Cameron’s arms, rolling until she lay on her back looking up to him. He gently brushed the few remaining tears from her cheeks.

“I miss Atlantis,” she confessed. “But if I hadn’t had to leave the City, I would never have had this. I would never have had you.”

“Doesn’t really sound like a fair trade, does it, me for a City?” he asked, almost despite himself.

“No, no it doesn’t,” Elizabeth said. “I think that I got the better end of the deal.”

Cameron gave her a rueful, disbelieving sort of smile.

“I’ve never been in love like this,” she revealed, watching his face. “I miss Atlantis, but I wouldn’t trade being here with you for anything.”

“Even if they offered you back Atlantis?” the colonel couldn’t help himself from asking. “If they offered you back Atlantis tomorrow, would you take it?”

He saw her torn by the question and there was a part of his heart he felt breaking before he could stop it. Elizabeth saw it in his indescribably blue eyes and she could have wept for having caused it.

“I want Atlantis,” she admitted. “But I want you more.”

“Elizabeth…”

“I love you,” she said in a quiet voice. “I love you more than I thought I could; more than I thought I could love anyone or anything. I want to make this work.”

She reached up to touch his face. “So yes, leaving Atlantis makes my heart ache. I miss the people there, my friends, my family. And I miss the challenge and responsibility of running the City. But leaving you, not having you, would shatter my soul. So if they offered me the City tomorrow, I would miss Atlantis, but I would choose you.”

She brushed her hand along his cheek, willing him to believe her. “I would choose you,” she insisted.

“You’d choose me?”

She nodded slowly, smiling for him.

He leaned down and kissed her gently. “I’d never make you choose.”

She smiled radiantly.

“Okay, so this is the part of the movie where Joshua Radin starts crooning,” Cameron said with a wry grin.

“With violins playing and soft guitar music,” Elizabeth added lightly. “But it’s also the part,” she murmured, shifting slightly and letting the sheet fall away a little from herself. “Where they have beautifully lit sex.”

Cameron grinned.

“And it’s also the part where you realize that there’s going to be a happy ending. That even if something comes between them for a while, by the end of the movie, she’s going to find him at Arturo’s,” Elizabeth added.

“Where he’s been waiting for her because they were always meant to be together,” the colonel agreed. “I told you I was a hopeless romantic,” Cameron said when he saw her expression. Then he gave her a wicked grin. “But for now…” he said in a lazy drawl. “You mentioned something about beautifully lit sex?”

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow and quirked her lip.

“Well… I’m still a guy after all,” Cameron teased while he brushed a warm hand along the curve of her breast, causing her to sigh and arch into his touch slightly. Then he gave her a long, passionate kiss.

“Just remember to meet me at Arturo’s…” he half whispered, half asked.

“It’s a date,” Elizabeth replied as softly.

Cameron smiled and kissed her breathless…
