Disclaimer: I don't own Stargate of course, the grand high Mucky Mucks do, nevertheless, no copyright infringement is intended. No money was made from this, and any similarity to any other story not my own is coincidence.

Title: Walking Elizabeth Home
Genre: Fluff/romance; smut
Rating: PG, maybe PG-13
Timeline: Sometime early season 4 for SGA
Note: Spoilers for the cast change that most know about, but just so you're warned, I used the spoilers and ran with them. Also, while the fic is rated NC-17 over-all, I think that maybe you could read everything but those parts and still get the gist of the story, since, honestly, it's just a relationship plot.

Cameron leaned against a nearby wall watching as Elizabeth slipped back into her black jacket.

“Well, you certainly seem more relaxed and well rested,” Doctor Baldwin observed as he put away his exam tray. “How are you sleeping?”

Elizabeth caught a glimpse of Cameron’s expression out of the corner of her eye and she tried to hide her own grin, ducking down her head as if focusing on straightening her jacket. “Oh, better. You were right…”

Elizabeth chanced a side glance over to Cameron before looking back to the physician. “I didn’t need any sleeping pills after all.”

“Good,” Doctor Baldwin said, nodding his head, clearly missing anything passing between the former Atlantean leader and the colonel. “That’s good.” He placed the last of his instruments away and picked up a tablet before focusing on Elizabeth.

“Well, the good news is that Doctor Keller’s and Doctor McKay’s findings are holding up. And the treatment that they provided on Atlantis after you were recovered seems to have eliminated any serious ill effects from anything that the Asurans might have done to you. The SGC will still want to keep you under observation of course, for… well, at least a month I would say. But everything seems fine so…”

He gave her a sympathetic look in response to her expression, assuming that she was distressed over hearing the news. “I know it sounds like I long time. I’m sorry. But I’m sure that they’re going to want to be certain.”

“Oh, of course,” Elizabeth replied. “I understand.”

Doctor Baldwin nodded.

“I’ll provide Doctor Lam with all of the information from Atlantis, and all of my results of course once we reach Earth and the SGC,” the physician informed her. “This is good news, Elizabeth,” Doctor Baldwin assured her. “Just remember to keep doing what you’re doing to relax, and rest when you can.” he advised.

“Yes, thank you Doctor.”

The physician looked over to where Cameron now stood near the wall. “I’ll have my reports for you by the end of my shift,” he informed him.

Cameron nodded.

Doctor Baldwin looked back to Elizabeth where she sat on the exam bed. “Well, you’re free to go, but again, if you need anything…”

“Thank you,” she replied and the doctor nodded before walking towards his office, consulting his tablet as he did so.

Cameron walked over to the exam bed and sat down by Elizabeth, studying her worried expression.

“You heard the Doc, this is good news, Liz.”

“What? Oh yes, yes of course. I was just…”

She looked over to him. “I was just wondering what I was going to do after… I mean, once the observation period is over, I’m not entirely certain what it is I’m supposed to do.”

She looked down to her hands in her lap.

“I suppose I could always talk to Georgetown. I’m certain that they’d give me my teaching position back,” she said quietly, think out loud.

“Or… you could join my team,” Cameron suggested carefully.

“What?” Elizabeth looked back over to him, meeting his eyes.

“Well… why not?” he asked. “Jackson’s going to be busy with the baby for a while. And we’re going to need a replacement for him on the team,” he said before amending the argument. “Well, what’s left of the team.”

“I don’t know…” Elizabeth replied hesitantly.

“Come on, it’s perfect,” the colonel insisted. “I mean… I know it’s not Atlantis, but at least you’d still be in the Stargate program. That’s something, right?”

“Sure… but…”

“And I don’t see how they could object,” Cameron continued smoothly, undaunted. “After all, that way the paranoid types could keep an eye on things in case, well in case there is anything to this whole Asuran thing. And the those that still understand your value, well, they’d have to see the potential in you being on SG-1.”

“Maybe,” Elizabeth relented. “But what about…” She made a small gesture indicating the two of them.

“Us? Come Liz, if it’s one thing I know about you, it’s that you’re a complete profession on the job. And…” he gave her a grin. “I’m a pretty damn good officer myself. I don’t think that we’d have any problem there. As for the whole chain-of-command, you’d be just like Jackson,” he continued. “Only a hell of a lot sexier,” he added with another lop-sided grin.

Elizabeth smiled a little herself.

“Just… consider it, okay?” Cameron asked.

She nodded.

After a few moments, Cameron hopped up from the bed. “Well now, the Doc said you were free to go. And… he told you that you should keep doing what you’re doing to relax,” he said, giving her a playfully suggestive look. “I’m thinking that you should take him up on that advice.”

“Oh you do, do you?” Elizabeth asked, raising an eyebrow and trying to hold back a grin.

“Most definitely,” Cameron said leaning close and kissing her before she could object.

He smiled when he saw her look around quickly after they had ended the kiss. “Liz, are making sure no one saw?” he asked, looking around the empty infirmary himself.

Elizabeth looked a little embarrassed, but admitted, “Yes.”

“Liz, no one’s even here, besides… everybody probably all ready knows,” he suggested, seemingly unconcerned with the fact.

“It is a very small ship, Elizabeth,” he explained when he saw her expression. “And you’re not exactly what I’d call quiet,” he couldn’t help adding with a lopsided grin.

He sobered for a moment though as he watched her face, worried for a minute that there had been a little too much truth in his teasing. He was concerned that he had just scared Elizabeth into running. Then slowly she smiled, and Cameron felt his heart start beating again.

“I don’t think you could ever be accused of being a church mouse yourself,” she replied standing up and invading his personal space. “There were one or two times last night that I’m sure you woke the whole ship,” she teased.

He gave her a look of mock offense. “I don’t think so. If anyone woke the ship, it was you. You’re definitely louder than me.”

“Care to prove it?” she murmured.

Cameron looked to his watch. “I’m off-duty as of now…”

Elizabeth smiled and walked around him and to the door.

She looked back at him over her shoulder. “Coming?”

“After you,” he replied with a grin and followed her out of the infirmary and to her quarters…
