Belated pics from Tasmania!

Our first family holiday. Logistically rather messy with different people flying in from different parts of the world but we eventually pulled it together.

Food
A major part of the family holidays revolves around food. We're huge eaters and not ashamed to admit that.

Mures' Fish and Chips. I think we had the fisherman's basket here, explaining the calamari rings there. This was our first meal upon arrival. I was extremely grumpy, having taken the red-eye flight into Melbourne and then to Tassie. Lucky for fried food.

The husband woke rather early the next day because of the summer sun and so i put some breakfast together for him. Soft boiled eggs with an avocado-egg-shroom sandwich.

That's my awesome sister making us breakfast. We put on showercaps so as to ensure our hair didn't get all stinky.

After some terribly cold service from the Barilla Bay Oyster farm, we took our business elsewhere and ended up just buying a tray of fresh oysters. Since we couldn't wait till getting back to the hotel to eat it, we ended up just sitting by the roadside and stuffing our faces with it. We sure make Bear Grylls look civilised.

Just one of the many restaurants we ate at. The hot food was excellent although I must say that the cold appetisers were quite shabby!

We ended up passing through some major retirement village and found a lovely cafe which served some excellent fried grub! Scallops, prawns, fish, thick chips.

Of course, the family ocassionally does engage in non-gastronimic activity...

We also met the crew of the sea shepherd. They were temporarily docked to refuel before heading out again. We took some pictures and had a nice chat with them. For those who are interested, you'll be happy to know that South Park's caricatures are accurate renditions! Awesome!

We drove out into the country for walks. Here's a picture of the boys hunting for beavers.

This is one of the best commercial honey places I've been to. We were told "honeyfarm" but it was more like honey shop because everything was so organised. This family is crazy about honey so shortly after this photo was taken, we left the place with about 30 bottles of honey. *_*

We went caving and saw some really fantastic sights. There were many more pictures but because we weren't allowed to use flash, this is as good as it gets. I think the brother got some great shots. This formation was called the pipe organ.

Some shots from cradle mountain.

Overall, I thought Tasmania just had too much marketing. We were told it was picturesque and all that jazz. While it is a very pretty place, it was nothing compared to New Zealand. Would I ever go back to Tassie? Probably not. The only thing I really liked about the place is that Cascade was abit cheaper. Otherwise, I rather be in Melbourne!

More about that in another post!
