The A-team or no team!

We've had a few recent structural adjustments (and additions) to the restaurant team. A couple of recent incidents have made me extremely negative about the future here. I'm in the middle of a very busy work morning but I really need to vent and so here we go. We're organising a "Thank You" function for our key partners and the event is in 6hrs. Ideally, everyone should attend because their primary partners/stakeholders/sponsors are all going to be there.

A. A**hole attitude
Frankie's attitude is just awful. I needed Frankie to do a couple of things including burning backup copies of some DVDs and calling the last few people to check on their RSVP status.

Here's what I've got so far:

"I cannot burn it. It gives me an error message. (Returns me the discs)" "If possible, don't give me such short notice." "I can't do it. You don't believe you try it la!"

"It's not me. It's my colleagues! Ok, I tell them next time to copy you in the emails." "It's not me who sent the email. It's my colleagues. Not me hor, I'm just calling to check on the RSVP."

"So stressful. And don't even have time off! Got vegetarian food for me to eat or not?"

This, coming from a person who spends so much time doing her own personal stuff. How do I know? She hasn't deleted the HUGE folder of her personal stuff on a shared computer. There must be at least 100 files of random self-improvement documents like How to not procastinate. Someday she will be fired and I hope someone I know will be around to tell me her response.

B. Bulls**t
Colleagues coming up to tell me, at the very last minute, that they have to leave earlier or they can't make it for our event. The range of reasons include:

"X asked me to attend a concert with her."

"I thought your earlier email was just to reserve only but no other news so I didn't know I needed to be involved."

"Since I got no role, I don't need to be there right?"

C. Callousness
Colleagues who see an after-hours job as extra work and therefore not worth their effort. Colleagues who don't believe in finishing a job thoroughly or who don't take pride in doing a quality piece of work. Colleagues who put in minimal effort because they know that someone else will finish the job for them.

I really miss my old team. We nicknamed ourselves the Dream Team because together, we did an awesome job of many projects. We weren't always the most well-liked but it wasn't important because we stuck together, we looked out for each other and believed in what we were doing.

I love the new administrative structure but I can't say the same about many of my colleagues.
