Crookshanks needs more fans!

Dare: Crookshanks! Anything with Crookshanks! (Well, here's a little drabble, drabbled while packing to go home for my Easter break!)
He prefers the dog to the human. At least he smells better that way.
When he wears the fur they can circle each other for hours, smelling, watching, getting acquainted. Humans with the Gift really have the most interesting smell.
When he wears his human skin he just sits there. Not much to look at, not much to smell either. Crookshanks usually does not see the point in staying for long if he insists on wearing his human skin.
Of course, it is seldom that the human refuses to take on his fur when Crookshanks favours him with a visit. Together they rule the grounds of Hogwarts, discovering all there is to know about animals, humans and half-giants alike! They know who is important and they know who should be ignored, they hold all the pieces and are the true rulers of this piece of land humming with magic!
And after he returns to the castle after their moonlit survey, he can feel his fur bristling with magic and excitement. Yes, it is definitely more interesting with humans that have the Gift! Thinking of which, maybe he should go up to the first floor, down one of the corridors and see if that intoxicating tease of a tabby cat is out in the corridors tonight?
