I thought it was the best of the first four. It was a good adaption and felt like it was set in the Harry Potter universe and yet was still a good movie.
I thought it really captured the tone of the book. It was the same magical Potter universe. And it started out light and happy but with hints of menace and ended up darker, which is exactly right.
I think I think a British director made it feel more like a British boarding school story... but that's probably only because I know it was a British director...
The tone was infinitely better than PoA which was far too dark and dreary for me. I can't comment on direction as such. I can't really tell that sort of thing very well.
So I suppose I thought it was okay? Apart from the things that made me so disappointed with the film in general.
I suppose I'm a little ambivalent here. Perhaps I should have skipped this question.
