Kevin entered the lobby of the Ministry with Lavender on his arm. He was quite glad she'd agreed to attend the dull function with him. He could imagine other more fascinating things to do on Halloween night, such as curling up in front of the fireplace with her to watch a movie.

"Did I tell you how smashing you look tonight?" he asked, tipping his pirate hat up so he could grin at her.

"You've said it a few times," Lavender grinned in return, smoothing out the apron of her sexy maid costume.

She was very happy he had asked her to come with him to the ball and agreed right away. She really did like him, and any excuse to spend time with him was a good one.

"Just so you know," he said, leaning down to whisper in her ear. "I don't dance. When I do, it's the worst show ever. Just ask Corner, he'll tell you."

Lavender pouted, then turned on him and brought his head down a little closer, her hand on his neck. "Dancing isn't about looking good. It's about feeling good. But if you don't want to. . . I'll just have to find someone else then won't I?"

"No," he replied, putting his hands on her waist. "I was just warning you so you wouldn't feel the need to kick me or run away from my horrid dancing skills."

Laughing, Lavender kissed his cheek. "Don't worry, I've seen my share of horrid dancers."

"Not as horrid as me, I'm telling you," he replied, moving his hands up and down her waist. "I not only have two left feet...I have long limbs...and well, as long as you don't make me do anything more than slow dancing...I might be all right."

"Slow dancing will be just fine," she said softly, swaying in his arms.

"I could definitely manage this if I get to hold you," he said, leaning down to whisper in her ear. "As long as you have fun, I'll do whatever it takes."

Giggling, Lavender blushed and wrapped her arms around his neck, playing with the soft hair at the base. "Charmer."

Laughing, she pulled back just a hair and planted a kiss on his nose. "Well, you're a charming goof, how's that?" she asked.

Lavender laughed and looked up at him, causing her to giggle again. "Well now that we've gotten that settled, let's get something to drink and then we can mingle or dance or do whatever you Ministry people do at these things."

"How should I know what these people do? I've only been one of them for a few months," he replied, letting her go and offering his arm. "But a drink sounds lovely."

"Then a drink we shall have," Lavender said with a laugh, taking his arm as they walked over to the bar.
