* MUGGLE WORLD *
Name: Melissa
Age: Eighteen
Gender: Female
Location: Arizona, USA
Likes:
Anything art (drawing, painting, and art history), music (Jrock/Visual Kei, rock, metal, techno, classical/instrumental), reading, writing, coffee and tea, cigarettes, culture, Harajuku fashion, piercings, tattoos, scarves, nature, rain and thunderstorms, cool to cold weather, and spending time with my friends.
Dislikes:
Drunks, public transportation, traffic, driving, the heat, the public (most of the time), homophobia, overly crowded places (excluding concerts), clothes shopping, cigar smoke, bad music, tasteless artwork, taking tests/cramming for tests, group projects (I end up doing most of the work 99% of the time), betrayal, and disappointment.
Hobbies:
Drawing, painting, reading, writing, and listening to music.
Strengths:
1. Artistic/Creative: Since I was little, I’ve always loved drawing. During high school (I graduated in May) I took as many art classes as I could, including two A.P. Studio Art courses and A.P. Art History. I’ve finished my drawing portfolio (thirty pieces so far) and have submitted it to the College Board here for the A.P. test, where judges will choose a grade between 1 and 5. I’m hoping for a 4, but I have yet to receive anything in the mail. Hopefully, after two years at community college I can transfer over to a four year university -- hopefully an art school! :D
2. Intelligent and Open-minded: I find myself fairly intelligent, and I’m a good listener and give good advice. I try and look at everything from every angle possible to better understand it, whatever it may be. I won’t judge anyone unless I have a good reason to.
3. Loyal: If you have earned my trust, may it be through friendship or otherwise, you will have my loyalty until it is betrayed. I stand by those I care about no matter what. Along with that point, I am extremely protective, especially of my best friend. If anyone tries to mess with her -- and, even if she doesn’t want me to butt in -- I’m still incredibly defensive.
Fears:
My greatest fear is losing my best friend, one way or another. I am incredibly attached to her (we’ve know each other for thirteen years) and I don’t know what I’d do if we ever parted ways or something terrible happened. Her constant presence has shaped my life, and I wouldn’t be who I am today without her.
Weaknesses:
1. Lack of social skills/Antisocial or avoidant: As far as first impressions go, I may seem cold or indifferent, and I’ve been told by my friends that they thought I was mean or scary when they first saw me. ^^; The reason that may be is because I have the worst time opening up to new people, and it takes me at least a year or a little under to actually relax enough to do it. In public (nowhere near my friends and those who I feel comfortable with) I don’t actively go out of my way to talk to others. Unless someone talks directly to me or they have asked the group for their opinions, and I have one, then I will stay silent. I’m an observer most of the time.
2. Temperamental: When provoked, I can have the nastiest temper ever. I may seem quiet and docile at times, but I can be tad scary when I’m really mad. I’m also horribly cynical.
3. Paranoid: I tend to freak myself out, usually by hearing things and seeing things I know aren’t really there (I have an overactive imagination). ^^;
Favorite movies [no more than three]:
1. What Dreams May Come
2. Lord of the Rings (all)
3. Labyrinth
Favorite books [no more than three]:
1. Good Omens, written by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
2. Neverwhere, written by Neil Gaiman
3. Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, written by Haruki Murakami
Favorite singer/band:
Dir en Grey, and then the GazettE is a close second.

* WIZARDS' WORLD *
In which house do you think you belong? Why?
I would be a Ravenpuff, which I suppose is fairly accurate. At
lumos_sorting I was placed in Hufflepuff with a good amount of Ravenclaw votes on the side, and then at
platform_934 (one of the many braches of
hogwartsishome), I was sorted as a 'Claw. I suppose it just depends on your opinion of me. I'm down-to-earth (apparently), and incredibly attached to my friends. Fiercely loyal, I'll do anything in my power for them. I also try to be sympathetic to others' problems, even though I have difficulties with opening up enough to be comforting. Stemming from this awkward, reclusive behavior, I'm more of a solitary/private person and serious rather than laid-back (most of the time). Because of this, I may seem cold. D: I am realistic rather than idealistic, and I am incredibly fond of the arts, history, and literature. I analyze things (in general), and I’m the biggest perfectionist at times. Other than that, I may have a few Gryffindor or Slytherin qualities in there, but my Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff ones are most prominent.
In which house do you think you don’t belong at all? Why?
I have nothing against Slytherin, but personally, I don't think I would fit in well there. I’m not exactly sneaky or malicious (at least, that’s how they’re portrayed). I do admit that I am ambitious, but I don’t cheat and sabotage others in order to achieve my goals.
In which class would you shine the most? Why?
It’s tough for me to decide between History of Magic and Transfiguration. I love learning about the past and the events and accomplishments that led up to where we are today, yet I would also be very interested in having the ability/power to transform the simplest object into something completely different (and then some).
Write a short paragraph about each of the following families [just state your thoughts on each of them]:
Malfoy: In the Wizarding World, the Malfoys are the elite within pureblooded families. Generation after generation, every person has been sorted into Slytherin, and most if not all support the Dark Arts and Voldemort. They are intolerable of Albus Dumbledore and his “muggle-loving” ways, and they believe that Hogwarts would be better off if only purebloods were allowed to enroll.
Black: The Blacks are the oldest pureblood family to date, and much like the Malfoys, they have an incredibly high status. They too follow the Dark Arts and despise muggle-borns; everyone in their family (excluding Sirius and Andromeda) have gone bad.
Potter: In my opinion, Lily and James Potter were two of the most caring, courageous, and protective people out of this series - and those same qualities were passed down to Harry. I know for certain that if both lived long enough to raise their son, he would have been a million times better off than he is now.
Weasley: The Weasley’s are made up of many different people, yet they are extremely close and fiercely protective of those they hold dear. I would say that out of the families mentioned here they are the most fun to be around (there’s never a dull moment).
Remember the pensieve incident from book five? [Chapter #28: Snape’s worst memory] What are your thoughts about it?
Truthfully, I felt sorry for what happened to Snape, knowing that for him he probably will never get over his past. He was misunderstood, yet he did have some nasty tendencies himself.
In these hard times with a new war ahead, where are your loyalties?
My loyalties are definitely with the Order, along with protecting those I love. I would never want to side with the Death Eaters, but I wouldn’t mind going under-cover in order to gather more information on Voldemort and his movements, or anywhere else the Order needs me to go. I’m an effective liar when I have to be (although I’m not exactly proud of that), so I think I would get by.
