Matthias Heim, newly appointed Head of Magical Creatures, and his nine-year-old grandson was attacked in his home last night and admitted into St. Mungo’s hospital for treatment. The Minister of Magic’s office released a statement earlier today, saying that the Auror were already investigating this attack, and following several possible leads. The office went on to say that Secretary Heim’s own department would work hand in hand with the office of Magical Law Enforcement to ensure a quick arrest, and trial.
Secretary Heim is a brand new appointment following the removal of Lucius Malfoy, who is currently combating a lengthy illness, and is known for his fiery rhetoric, and strong support among the hard-line Department Heads, as well as many influential members of the community. He is a long-standing critic of Lucius Malfoy, and what Heim claims is the infiltration of Dark Wizards and Creatures into our government and other institutions under the guise of support and solidarity. He claims that such parties are using the so-called truce as a ruse to retake power lost during the wars and return it to the hands of the elite. This has led to strain tensions between both Mr. Malfoy and Mr. Heim that resulted in a physical attack at the Ministry of Magic two months ago.
The Minister’s office declined to say if another attack in a park near the Secretary’s home was linked. That attack left one Muggle severely wounded, and another dead. The names of the victims have yet to be released. A source in Magical Creatures office that spoke on the condition of anonymity said the preliminary reports are pointing to one or more rogue werewolves. The Ministry fiercely denied these claims, dismissing them as ‘more hate-mongering.’
