Who? Leo Black and Severus Snape
What? Leo buys a time-turner and decides to see how it works.
Why? Because he's LEO and he has the common sense of a monkey on crack.
When? hehe um well he starts off in hpbeyond at 17 years of age, and jumps back accidentally to current time in grownhp6words. You dig? So he started off 18 years after grownhp, and um appears in current time. Yes. That.
Prompt: There can be as much value in the blink of an eye as in months of rational analysis. -Malcolm Gladwell

There was a little voice in the back of his head that said, 'don't buy that. Don't buy that, Leo Black, because you know you're going to use it even though everyone will tell you it's a bad idea.' The funny thing about that voice was that it sounded a lot like Sinclair and Pyxis combined. Strange. There wasn't another voice telling him he should buy it. Even as he looked at it and recognized what it was immediately he didn't feel some tug of war in his mind about the decision. There was no little angel and devil duking it out. There had simply been a moment of warning before he handed the Wizard in the shop his cash.

A time-turner. He'd always wanted one of these. His father used it for stock market investments and Black Friday shopping. He'd never been permitted to borrow it. Of course he hadn't asked either. The truth was he was afraid his father would allow him to use it. Then his mother would kill his father and who wants that kind of responsibility on their shoulders? Not Leo Mirach Black that's for sure.

He was seventeen years old, soon to be eighteen in three months, and life was good. He was in a steady relationship with the man he loved. His friends would be finished with Hogwarts soon. The Summer was full of possibilities. He had just completed a major Yves St. Laurent campaign and managed several days off to rest. So, it was by chance, that he came across the time-turner in the shop after leaving Maisie and Capella's club.

He'd seen his father use one enough. How hard could it be? He'd simply take a little glimpse in the past, and then come back before anyone was the wiser. If it worked out the way he wished for it too then he could use it to add a few extra hours in the days when he really needed it. Life was crazy busy for him lately. Between his modeling campaigns, design school two nights a week, and working on putting the finishing touches on his first line he was burning the candle at two ends.

Sin,

Bought a time-turner. Should be back in twenty-four hours. Don't worry. I've seen my dad use one loads of times.

Love,

Leo

He had a feeling Sinclair would not be amused he went by himself, but perhaps if this worked correctly he could intercept the owl. That way Sinclair wouldn't have to know. He smirked at that idea. Always have a back up plan, right? Leo quickly ducked into an alley and twisted the turner. He was counting to himself when a cat suddenly jumped out from behind a rubbish bin and hissed at him. That was all the interruption he needed to lose count of how many twists of the turner he used, and to activate it.

When he appeared in the same alley in Milan a bit later he felt a little dizzy. So dizzy that he tripped and landed on the ground. How could he be so graceful on the cat walk and dance floor, yet manage to stumble because of the time-turner? The time-turner took the worst of the fall. He was unaware of how many years he'd gone back. This was something he was going to need to sort out as fast as possible. Quickly he made his way through the streets until he found a paper with the day's date on it.

"Oh for Merlin's sake, I messed that up didn't I?" No need to worry. He'd just fix it. How hard could it be to fix a time-turner? Er...but he couldn't exactly walk up to his parents or godfather and explain who he was. Damn it. He was in quite the mess now.

Perhaps...yes, of course. If he needed help he could go to Hogwarts. Headmaster Snape was used to being frustrated and annoyed by Leo's antics anyway. Him seeing Leo in this dimension wouldn't worry him too much. He could tell him what an idiot he was, fix the time-turner, and then send Leo back on his way. It was a brilliant solution to the problem at hand.

Leo apparated near the apparation barrier at Hogwarts. It was there that he saw the aurors patrolling. "Bollocks." He apparated to Hogsmeade and from there made his way to the Shrieking Shack. At least some things stayed the same. If aurors were patrolling something must be going on at the castle. Perhaps he should just go to the Manor...no, not the manor. His parents would be less than impressed with what he's done. No, he could go to Grimmauld. At least they sort of expected things like this to happen. He was his father's son after all.

He pondered this for some time before deciding to stick with his original plan. Always trust your instincts after all. He was a lion through and through. His puppy patronus was sent to Headmaster Snape with the following message:

Headmaster Snape, I'm not sure how to explain this to you in a way that will make sense. This is Leo Black, and I've had an incident with a time-turner. I've managed to break it, and I do not wish to have my parents see me when I have yet to even be born yet. Please, can you come to the shrieking shack and help me sort this out? For Godric's sake, please don't tell my godfather either. He will not find the humor in this.

Understatement of the year of course. Especially if Leo had any idea what was currently going on at Hogwarts.
