Autumn has always been Millie’s favourite season. Spring is too bright, summer too sticky, and the dark chill of winter can be downright miserable. Autumn, though, is perfect.
The seasons change earlier in the Slytherin common room than anywhere else in the castle. The Ravenclaws brag that their tower remains balmy until late October, but down in the dungeons it's a different story. This year's been particularly cool: Millie had to grab a jumper before the Welcome Feast, and every day since has grown crisper.
It means the fireside sofa is particularly coveted, with its plump cushions and cosy throw. Millie had to leave the Halloween Feast early to claim it, but it's a small price to make Pansy smile. Weeks of flirting have tested Millie’s patience, but she won’t make her move until she’s certain Pansy's ready.
