“This is a bad idea.”
Sirius flicked Remus’ ear. “Live a little, killjoy. I guarantee, this Muggle ‘haunted house’ has nothing more horrifying than fake blood and entrails. We’ve all seen and lived through worse.”
“When Lily told me about this, I didn’t believe her,” James said. “We’re not telling her we went, right?”
Sirius just winked while Remus grimaced and followed his friends inside.
As Sirius had promised, Muggles roamed about the three-story building, moaning and hissing, dressed in ghostly attire. It was more amusing than frightening, considering they had seen real ghosts on a daily basis while they were at Hogwarts...
… until something grabbed Sirius’ ankle.
He yelped and instinctively shifted into Padfoot, and James and Remus watched him sprint towards the exit.
“The bloody fool!” Remus said, casting an Obliviate under his breath at a Muggle who witnessed the entire thing.
“At least it’s not a full moon,” James offered. “You could’ve been a part of the scenery.”
“Not even remotely funny, Prongs. ‘Sorry I almost ate you’ wouldn’t be a sufficient apology.”
“Would’ve been a hairy situation, true,” James pointed out, snorting.
“Rubbish friends,” Remus muttered, and left to find Padfoot.
