“You’re doing it wrong.”
“Any idiot can carve a pumpkin, Lupin.”
Lupin leaned forward and grabbed Snape’s wand from him. “You’re supposed to use a knife, like this…” Lupin put a knife into Snape’s hand and placed his own hand on top. He gently pushed Snape back round to face the pumpkin, his body pressed close against the other man’s, their hands joined together.
“Really, Lupin, I can…”
Ever so slowly Lupin helped Snape carve out the eyes, and then the mouth, all jagged edges and menacing teeth. Snape tried resisting at first but then gave in to the sensation of Lupin’s breath against his neck. Lupin let go of Snape’s hand and stepped back. “You think you can manage the rest on your own?”
“Well,” Snape replied, appearing to consider it, “I think I could do with some more help.”
“Really?” asked Lupin, amused.
“There are other holiday traditions I need to brush up on. Costumes, for instance.”
“Costumes?”
“One, in particular.”
Lupin’s mouth dropped open as Snape’s robes billowed to the floor, revealing tight leather trousers and nothing else. “Do you think it’s too much?”
“Yes,” Lupin growled, pulling the other man towards him, “definitely too much clothing.”
