Pansy stood on the balcony, head tipped back to stare at the moon.
"Looking at your twin?" Hermione said behind her.
Pansy raised her brows without looking away. "Twin? Cold, distant, and pale? Suppose that works, though it's hardly flattering."
"Only to some." Hermione rested her chin on Pansy's shoulder and slid one arm around her. "I don't see cold when I see you as the moon. I see mystery. Glamour. The bright in the dark. The moon's one of the most beautiful things in the heavens. And if you want to touch it, you're going to be spending a lot of money."
Pansy snorted. She turned to pull Hermione into her arms. "That was very nearly romantic. Just a little stumble there at the end."
"Damn," Hermione said, deadpan. "I was sure I had it. I've been practicing. Attracting a moon isn't easy, you know."
Pansy grinned. "Keep trying. You'll get there eventually. And it won't cost as much as you think."
Hermione caught her in a kiss, long and deep. "Call it a down payment."
Pansy tried to remember how to breathe. She twisted her fingers into Hermione's hair, lifting her curls to the moonlight. "It's a start."
