Summary: Not so dead colleagues/frenimes meet unexpectedly.
Notes: Not exactly a bonfire. Sorry. Hope you enjoy anyway!
The evening was clear and crisp. The waning gibbous moon beckoned quietly. Remus walked purposefully through the graveyard with the lightly frosted grass crunched under his feet. All Hallows Eve found him, as ever, with a small bouquet of flowers and a note for Lily and James. He stood still for a moment before he placed the flowers. His nose twitched.
He smelled smoke. A nearby bonfire? The scent was of a hawthorn wood fire, cinnamon, vinegar, and cloves. "Severus." He breathed and then turned slowly.
Severus stood tensed for flight, a single lily grasped in his hand. "A meeting of the undead." The dark voice drawled.
Remus chuckled and reached for him. "Being a werewolf is more than enough, a zombie would be too much."
"Lupin?"
Remus held the captured hands tightly and bent to steal a kiss.
"Lupin, I never..." Severus stammered uncharacteristically.
Remus grinned. "Of course you did, I watched you and Rosier after a quidditch match once."
"I didn't mean never?" Severus grumbled.
"I'll buy you a drink." Remus still grinned.
"You might let me finish." Severus snarked.
"It's never been to my advantage."
"Quite true." Severus almost sounded amused.
"About that drink." Remus asked.
"Yes." Was the simple reply.
