Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. And may I compliment you on your speed-reading skills? You responded to this 11K story only fifteen minutes after it was posted -- that's a reading rate of over 700 words a minute. Impressive.

It was not something that cd be put down (although in a digital age that's an increasingly odd locution, isn't it).

This was astonishing. The epistolary form worked really well and the classic school story characteristics where quite recognizable but felt very natural and fitting.
And for the underlying theme, the fight for higher education for girls, it's sometimes good to realize through fics as yours that this fight took place less than 100 years ago.

Thank you! Epistolary fic can be risky to write, so I'm glad you think the structure worked.

Oh, this is just wonderful! The epistolary style works brilliantly to capture the atmosphere of this place and the wonderful personalities of all these women. All the recognisable characters are so perfectly rendered - what a wonderful Triumvirate McG, Hooch and Sprout make! And GP, and Millicent, and Lavender the school flirt! And Augusta, and Mrs Malfoy!

Our narrator is a fantastic storyteller and OC, too, and I identify with her on so many levels. As someone who is currently studying to teach but don't know what it will actually be like to do so, perhaps doing it as a gateway to more education, I hope I can find inspiration and passion in it the way she has. And I know all about teacher crushes and feeling 'all tingly and nervous' around the objects of them.

Brava, and thank you! This was such a treat :D.

Thank you, Feather! So glad you liked it. Teaching can be a glorious experience (and a frustrating one, of course /g/); it was fun to show the good bits.

I quite enjoyed this story, the transplantation in time and place of the characters was done seamlessly, and they held up.

Beautifully done,

L

I just have a few short words for you here...

Since sending girls to university is one of Miss McGonagall's main goals, she yielded on the issue of forms.
Perfect. And I am loving this. Love how you've brought the Harry Potter characters elsewhere, but in the same form.

I don't know about their bathing arrangements, though (and I wasn't about to ask!)
I will just sit and hope it's shared in one way or another. :P

Oh, Miriam, they're just the sort of women we've always admired: fun-loving but serious about important things and dedicated to scholarship and absolutely convinced that the female brain is meant to be used.
Well *I'm* certainly quite taken with them given that description! Oh, the Triumvirate...I think I shall have to remember that. (:

She is in charge of the school, of course, and will give science lectures to the senior students and help prepare them for their Higher Leaving Certificate examinations.
Perfect. Also, I am jealous of her job.

But she was wearing a gold thistle brooch, so I thought, "she must have ( ... )

"Ah, et tu, Pomona?" Miss McG said, and Miss Sprout laughed
Ahahha the very best; I can see this happen so perfectly. (And great inclusion of Alice, too!)

Miss McG looked over her spectacles with mock severity and said, "Now, that's just too bad of you, Rolanda, to throw childish escapades in my face after all these years." But I could tell she wasn't upset; her lips weren't thinned out any longer, and she was almost smiling.
Ahahaha this scene is wondrous and perfectly-IC (despite the change in universe, which is a skill); the rest of this fic is the very same.

Pomona, if you're going to air my dirty linen to these young ladies, they should know the full story.
I really should stop quoting every line, but I had to quote this one. A fic with three of my absolute favourite characters (and a darling OFC!) and this line is another gem.

"None of Amelia's fruitcake from home, or those peppermint humbugs that Irma seemed to have an endless supply of?" Foiled again in my plan not to quote so much! Amelia AND Irma mentioned, with fruitcake ( ... )

It's so fascinating, Miriam, to be on the teacher side of the school now! I'm enjoying every minute.
And a big smile at this one, too. I have a feeling that I will at some point be in these new shoes myself, and that this fic will come to mind (they tend to, in such moments).

Another character perfectly characterised, with Augusta there.

"Round One to the headmistress, wouldn't you say?"
*Grins.* Oh, this one'll be one for the books.

And before you make a pointed little comment in your next letter the way you did in your previous one, I'll admit it: yes, I also wanted another chance to be with Miss McGonagall. There, are you satisfied, Missy Miri? I have a crush. Make that a Crush. Full-blown.
This entire parenthetical aside is brilliant--and how true! Down to the jaw and hands of the matter, of course. (: And I don't think any of us would laugh at your OFC, unless we intended to laugh at ourselves...

But my point is that Miss McG and Lady L are more alike than they might think.Excellent point. :D The whole paragraph (as the whole ( ... )

Miss McGonagall gave me that rare beautiful smile of hers, and then she actually took my hand and patted it!!!! And said, "that she is, Pomona."
Rare beautiful smile! Hand-taking! Exclamation points! Her words! I feel bad for the butterflies, for my stomach just dropped out of me in the most pleasant of ways (I imagine less-so for the butterflies). What an adorable scene. I imagine I might have fainted on the spot, and happily. (Ah, I see the same of Fiona, but more extreme--as I would expect, given it is her hand in Minerva's possession.)

When your granddaughters are ready to come to school here, don't be surprised if they find me still in place.
Great big smile from me--and the ghost line. Wondrous ending!

As you can tell from the rest of my comment, I'm not quite sure how fond I am of this fic. You should perhaps try writing it again--or, no, on second thought: you should write a prequel, so that I might know you truly have the knack for this and so I may know how I really feel about such stories ( ... )
