Need help choosing a skirt and blouse

I am having the most surprisingly difficult time finding a suitable blouse for my outfit. I want a short-sleeved blouse, and I'll be darned, collar blouses don't seem to be as popular as they were a few years ago. I've run across some on sites like Macys, but I am NOT paying $70-150 for a blouse. The only really suitable two I've found thus far ( Read more... )

For a shirt have you checked Target? I think that's where I found mine. Of course this is the wrong time of year to be looking for short sleeves...

My skirt came from buckheaduniforms.com

I think I did, but I'll double check.

Do you have a link to the specific skirt you bought?

I have more than one of them actually. I went more with what fit my body shape than what was movie canon.

I got my white blouses (ages ago) at a school uniform shop, since that was the only place I could find ones without extra pleats and sparkly stuff on them. They were about $10 and last FOREVER. :)

I found a few in online uniform shops, so hopefully one of them will work. Some are supposed to be wrinkle-resistant, which is nice. If I so much as look at my clothing funny it wrinkles.

I was going to suggest a uniform shop as well. We have them in the malls where I leave because a lot of the school districts are uniform-only.

Oh! Lucky. I wish our local schools had uniforms. I think all schools should be uniform only. It would reduce some unnecessary drama. I don't have any local shops like that, but I did find a few online.

I got my shirt at Old Navy, where I was also lucky enough to find a skirt on sale that matches the movie version. You can usually find uniform-type shirts and skirts at department stores like Sears or the like, but that only really works if you're small enough and have the right build for junior sizes.

As someone who went to school in a uniform for 13 years (12 of those in a uniform very similar to the Hogwarts one), I just wanted to say that uniforms sometimes change from one year to the next (such as the CoS to PoA change), but they sometimes allow a year or two leeway for the change. Shirts and skirts or trousers are usually completely regulated (I had to buy them from a certain supplier or second-hand and could get detention for buying them elsewhere), but things like shoes, socks and sweaters or the like have options. If you look at pictures for the other girls, their shoes are black leather Mary Janes or lace-ups, but different styles.
