Sirius Black - His strongest father figure, who sadly dies at the hands of his blood relation. For Harry he stands as the “cool” godfather that would of loved to taken him in, but , sadly, things were not meant to be. While Sirius means well, I don’t think he is true guardian material. He is far too reckless in his own safety to watch after someone else

I think they both forgot that the other is human a lot of the time. Most of the time Harry thought of Dumbledore as this all seeing, nearly god-like figure who could do no wrong, and Dumbledore spent all of Harry's childhood grooming him to eventually killing Voldemort, in essence robbing Harry of a proper childhood. It's really just luck and his innate sense of goodness that allowed Harry to become who he was, because he so easily could have gone the other direction and become more like Snape, or god forbid, like Voldemort.
They both went way too extreme with their opinion of the other, in my opinion. They had both flaws, and deserved more what they got.
IA with this. One of the things that bugs me about Dumbledore is that he either didn't see, or didn't care in the beginning that with the terrible time he had with the Dursley's he could've turned out mean and bitter like Snape, or could've turned out like Voldy himself.
I went back to the Goblet of Fire discussions and I noted discussions of how Sirius deals with his responsibilities much better than when he was confined to his hated home. If he was an openly free man, would Sirius have made such reckless decisions?
