Halloween traditions

I've been given a challenge to write a short fic featuring a pre-Hogwarts Severus attending a Halloween party at Lily's home, and I have a couple of questions. First of all, are there any traditional Halloween games children might play at a party, and if so, how would they properly be referred? Second, at what time does night usually fall?
