minor injury...

My beloved rotary cutter and I got into a fight yesterday. He won. Funny thing? I didn't even know we were fighting.

But seriously, took a slice to the index yesterday when making a quilt block. Quickly ran downstairs, with my finger in my mouth to create pressure (yes, I know that's not the best way, but I also didn't want to fall down the stairs or drip blood everywhere). I yelled for mom and went for the kitchen sink where I started running cold water over the cut.

Mom panicked quite a bit for her. She's usually pretty calm through these things. She managed to get me a towel and I put pressure on it while she sought out our first aid kit that did not have gauze or tape. So, she ran off to the nearest store.

Once she returned, I told her I would literally do ANYTHING to not go to the hospital. We checked the wound and it wasn't bleeding much (seriously), so we wrapped it in a bunch of gauze and tape and neosporin (antibiotic cream).

I've changed the bandages twice. The wound looks clean (not pink and angry), it hurts much like a bruise.

Seriously would not want to do that again, but nice to know I can handle it.

I even went back up a couple of hours later and did more cutting and sewing, but was slow and careful with the rotary blade.

And I didn't bleed on the fabric!!!
