I'm so thankful for warm weather on the weekends. Boeing has so much energy right now, he just needs to get out and run. Last weekend it was raining all weekend and we couldn't go to playgroup. And this week just as it's dry enough to take them to the dog park, more rain. Hopefully the pasture won't bee too muddy tomorrow and he can run his little heart out. I'm tired of being woken up at 4am with him and Shebly wrestling in the bedroom and body slamming the bed.
I wish I had a video camera - Boeing and Shelby were playing tug of war this afternoon. They were also growling at each other trying to syke the other one into letting go. It was so cute.
Work's been interesting and slow. The receptionist has been out since Monday with the flu which left the rest of us to cover the phones. Time I spent covering the phone during the four days plus bank & lunch run she normally covers ended up totaling a whole days' hours for me. However, I was still able to get all my work done and leave 3 hours early today. Figure that if I have 2 weeks of vacation, might as well start taking some of it. Came home and took a nap. :)
Kitten/puppy season is hitting with a vengence this year. I'm taking in a momma and (as of 8:30p) unknown number of 2 day old kitt\ens. Last year and this year are turning out to be rough. Not only are we not getting the donations we need for expenses and vet care, etc., we're also seeing a huge increase in the number of animals that people are no longer able to care for. It's ranging from people loosing their homes and moving to places that don't allow animals to people not able to afford to feed/vet their pets. We've got people driving by the rescue house several times a day to check that no one's dropped something off in the back yard or front porch. Last weekend one of our dog fosters/counselors went to set up for adoption fair only to find 5 puppies hiding in the back yard. We're helping as many people as we can, but there are times it feels like we're turning more away than helping.
I've fallen off the exercise band wangon I need to get back on. And that's all I have to say about that right now.
Answers to the lawsuits have been filed by the lawyers. Portrait's done for. At last report, all their unsold and undeveloped property was to be sold at auction. Someone had heard our development was being bought by the guy who was the supervisor for the project for Portrait. Supposidly he was able to get funding. Our homeowner association rep is holding a meeting in 2 weeks. If everyone else that's attending is as fed up as I am, the guy might as well bring his own tar and feathers to the meeting. It's not going to be pretty. I seriously wonder what it'll take to fire that management company (which is part of the portrat home company) and hire another one. One of the other communities did that eariler this year. I can't believe I pay as much as I do for as little as I'm getting right now. And it's really hard to get something done about the neighbors that don't pick up after their pets when the HOA rep is in Illinois. It's not like he's going to hop on a plane and look at the evidence himself... Absentee HOA - gotta love it.
