He felt the roar of blood in his ears, the delicious rush of adrenaline through his veins. He heard the loud pops of missed spells and the strange echo of Bellatrix’s haunted cackle. He smelled James’- no Harry’s- fear thanks to his heightened senses that functioned even in human form. Suddenly a green light blinded him and something hit him square in the chest.
Then he felt nothing as he disappeared through the mysterious veil. No pain as his body fell, no tears for Harry’s pain, no remorse as he stole from his godson one more link to his parents.
