“All right,” Harry said, feeling hope well within him. “Let’s get back to Hogwarts.”
“What about Professor Snape?” Ron asked, torn between eying the fallen man and Pettigrew’s quivering form with loathing. Hermione looked torn.
“We can’t leave him,” Lupin agreed, sharing a look with Sirius.
“But just to be certain,” Harry said, aiming at Pettigrew, “Petrificus Totalus!”
Then, pointing his wand at Snape, “Ennervate.”
Snape sat up, his eyes falling on Pettigrew.
He paled. “So it is true.”
“It is,” Sirius agreed hoarsely. “It is.”
Snape floated the petrified man before the group as they returned to the castle.
