There he was. Forgetting all that had happened, George rushed over to him and enveloped him with his arms, tears running over his freckles, holding him close and kissing the top of his head.
All Fred did was smile into his brother’s shoulder and wrap his arms around George’s waist. George pulled back and looked at Fred with glistening eyes.
“I can’t believe you’re here!”
Fred continued to smile at George, but he looked softer, somehow, as if he was paling in the sunlight. His mouth opened and - George woke up. It took a moment to finally remember the war.
Cut Notes: After war... all that remains is memories.
