“Who could this be from?” Celestina asked curiously, reaching for the sweet-faced owl that had landed on the windowsill. Her nineteenth birthday was coming up, but not for another month, she didn’t think it could be for that. She didn’t even know anyone with a barn owl. He was carrying a note on his leg, and a rose in his beak, Celestina handed the rose to her manager before untying the scroll.
“It’s from someone who liked my singing last night,” she said in quiet amazement.
“I told you, baby,” her manager grinned. “I’m going to make you a star!”
