It was all a matter of degree.
It was fine to sneer at someone you believed beneath you. Hogwarts reinforced that, and was where he learnt it was fine to cast a few hexes their way. They gave as good as they got and after all, ‘all was fair in the Gryffindor-Slytherin rivalry’.
That’s what was said about ‘love and war’ too. It wasn’t fair though.
The war made mockery of all they believed in. Green lights from either side, nothing left to distinguish the sides apart, but perception.
