Summary: Fudge starts leaning on the Prophet to discredit Harry and Dumbledore, and Rita considers breaking her promise to Hermione.

When Cornelius Fudge bustled into the Daily Prophet newsroom, Rita Skeeter nearly slopped coffee down her front. She wasn’t supposed to be in the newsroom-she had turned in her press pass an hour ago-but she wanted to have a cuppa before she left, and to “collect” some office supplies.
“Right then,” Fudge said. “There’s been talk about You-Know-Who being back. I want it quashed.” His chest swelled considerably. “And I want Potter and Dumbledore quashed along with it.”
Rita’s quill wriggled in her pocket. To hell with my promise, she thought. Then she remembered the jar, and shuddered.

“…and there will be no more of this nonsense about You-Know-Who returning,” Dolores Umbridge said, her wide toad’s mouth widening in a slack grin. “Dumbledore may have set stock by such nonsense, but I will have none of it! This is my school now, and you will all do well to remember that if you want to keep your jobs.”
Umbridge took her seat at the head of the staff table. McGonagall snorted derisively, and nudged Flitwick in the ribs. “Ten Galleons she’ll be run out of here by Peeves,” she whispered.
Flitwick grinned. “You’ve got yourself a bet, Minerva.”
