“Mum?” Neville whispered. He knew she couldn’t hear him, and even if she could, she wouldn’t understand him.
“Mum? I’m scared. Granny thinks I’m a squib, and… I dunno what to do. I’ll never get into Hogwarts. And, if I don’t get into Hogwarts, I’ll never be able to do anything, or help anyone.”
If his mum were here, she would hug him tight and tell him he was special, he just knew it. Granny never hugged him.
He bit his lip. “Mum, I miss you.”
Neville knew she couldn’t hear him, but sometimes he liked to pretend.
