Title: The Serious Dog Star
House: Hufflepuff
Word Count: 100
Characters: Marauders
Challenge: What's in a name

James, Remus and Peter thought that Sirius was rather an ill-fitting name for Sirius who was, almost always, anything but.

They also found it incredibly annoying, as, after the first few times, whenever anyone uttered the foolish words ‘you can’t be serious,’ Sirius only had to grin and all three of them got the desire to Hex him.

So when Sirius managed the Animagus transformation and bounded about the dormitory, tongue lolling and tail wagging in utter joy, the others thought it rather appropriate that Sirius had managed to discover a very un-serious way to live up to his name.

Title: Rita the Pearl
House: Hufflepuff

Character: Rita
Challenge: What's in a name

Rita was fascinated by pearls.

All they took was a tiny spec of grit.

Grit which chafed and chafed and grew and grew.

She just disturbed the dust and sat back and watched as imagination and a quill did the rest.

This was why she loved journalism. People were so predictable. Everyone had something that could be dug up.

And even if they didn’t, well, all that was needed was a little bit of dirt.

And the right angle, of course.

Easy.

Lovely.

So Rita smiled and watched and listened and wrote and gathered her stories about her like pearls.
