“What do you mean, ‘she’s gone?’”
Harry swung around, to stare into the fire, “I mean, she’s gone.” His shoulders slumped, he muttered, “No note, no Dark Mark. She just disappeared.”
Ron glared at Harry’s back, “Shouldn’t we go look for her?”
Whirling back around, Harry snapped, “Don’t you think I have?” His voice cracked, “I have looked it all her usual places and even her unusual places. I can’t find her anywhere.”
Harry buried his hands in his hair, looking more miserable than Ron had ever seen him. Ron let go of the past, “Do you want my help?”

Hermione swung herself up on the ledge, panting with effort. Calming down was an effort but it helped knowing her fear of heights would keep Harry from looking for her up here.
She wanted time away from him, time to think. Time to figure out how to tell him...
“Hermione?”
Hermione bit back a scream as head appeared over the same ledge she’d just stuggled over, “Ron?”
Ron pulled himself up on the ledge and smiled tightly, “You might want to talk to Harry, Hermione. He’s worried sick about you.”
He must be. He enlisted my help.
He loves you.

Harry picked Hermione up and swung her around in a circle. “God,” he set her down and buried his face in her hair, “I missed you so much.”
Ron watched their joyful reunion, a bitter smile tugging at his lips. He’d forgotten how much he missed being with them, just as he’d forgotten the reason he’d left in the first place. With a sigh, he turned to go...
“Ron?” It was Harry, “I just...”
Woodenly, Ron smiled, “No problem, mate.” Turning to leave, he said miserably, “Take care of each other.”
Hermione looked at Harry, “Ron, please don’t leave us.”

Hermione was sitting on the front porch swing when Ron approached and asked. “How long have we known each other?”
“About fifteen years.”
Ron plowed on, “Why haven’t you told him?”
Hermione stared at the floor, “How did you know?”
Gently, Ron touched her hand, “We dated for a long time, Hermione.”
A tear splashed his hand. “I am afraid.” Hermione admitted. “We faced Hogwarts and Voldemort together but this terrifies me. What do I know about being a mother?”
“More than you think. You will be fine. After all,” Ron laughed, “he loves you more than I ever could.”
