The cauldron, if you could even call it that anymore, was smoldering unpleasantly at him. He could tell it was doing it on purpose. Cauldrons aren’t generally supposed to ignite like that, especially not in a cloud of purple smoke. Hermione put the fire out quickly enough, but there was still the matter of his potions assignment. He could feel Snape's delight emanating from the front of the classroom, the Slytherins laughing behind his back.
Someday, he thought. Someday I’ll have them.
But for now, all Neville had was a zero for the day and the remnants of his cauldron.
