Author's Notes: When you don't have to worry about pain or fear, it's the little things that get you down.
He sometimes misses tea--he remembers blustery afternoons in the common room, sipping tea with his followers at school, sharing secretive smiles over their steaming cups.
Dark Lords have no time for tea, really. And who would take it with him? Most of those close enough to him to invite over for the afternoon would be too terrified of incurring his wrath to really enjoy it.
He knew nothing of pain or fear anymore, and it was a sure victory for them; perhaps he would see if a few of the gents could come round and celebrate after the battle.

Author's Notes: I was reading a book which has a list of the old CIA's tips for interrogation, and it discusses the reason why it may be useful to threaten torture and why, under no circumstances, should you actually torture them.
He stands taller, trying to control himself, to look unafraid. The break in his voice is a dead giveaway and he winces at the sound.
They're laughing now--a horrible sound!
His hands shake as he raises his wand. You can see his muscles still twitch and shudder--the curse is still in him like venom in his veins and he's having a difficult time staying on his feet.
The curse had ripped him apart, he'd thought, surely the agony had killed him; but here he was.
He was alive. And now, he was strengthened by his survival, and unafraid.
