“You obnoxious, arrogant, impossible, incorrigible idiot,” Lily greeted him, as he came through the portrait hole.
James blinked, realized he had no idea which of his actions he was supposed to be defending, and then picked the charge that seemed the most debatable. “Incorrigible?” he asked, in a manner he hoped was charming.
“Incorrigible,” she repeated firmly, but he could see the edges of the smile she was fighting.
“Surely I have some redeeming qualities.”
“Well,” she conceded, losing the battle with the smile, “I suppose you kiss well enough.”
James never did find out what she was mad about.
