Dear Live Journal.
I still haven't been writing to you as much as I would have liked. I hope to get better with that. I really do. Some crazy things have happened in the past week regarding work. More on that behind the cut along with info and pics from Hawaii.
On Wednesday, my boss was fired. She really had it coming and I wasn't upset at all. She deserved it really. She gained too much power too quickly and then pissed a lot of people off. She even tried to get me fired last summer after giving me the Supervisor position and then trying to take it away saying that she could do it all. It wasn't until after I talked with her boss and found out she had been telling lies about me that we both knew were untrue. I had just been putting up with her since then. Recently, she had been caught in a number of lies including turning in commission reports that were fraudulent, lying about conversations with other department heads and changing clock in times for her office pet. She had pissed many people off and the first thing that popped into my mind was, "ding dong the witch is dead." I hate to see anyone lose their job during this economy but she had it coming.
Then on Friday, her boss (who was my boss as well) informed us that it was his last day. He had turned in his resignation. He stated that he was just burnt out and needed a change. They had him traveling two or three days a week and he has a family so I can understand why he is doing this. The UPPER upper management freaked out a bit when I reminded them that my vacation started this week but I believe that we got it all taken care of.
Working those three days this week was rough. My mind was already on vacation and I really needed it.
I asked the girls at work this week what I should do to try and get a good tan while in Hawaii. They all said that I should go to a tanning booth first and so i did. I was amazed at how much color I showed in just three days and the girls at Planet Beach said that it will really help me not to burn in Hawaii and to also darken up. I really like Planet Beach and I may get a membership there when I get back.
Hawaii Day One
The morning started early but not any earlier than I am usually up anyway.
timzilla stayed the night with us so that he would not have to drive from SF so early. We were up at 6 as the cab was coming at 7. We were already packed and we were meeting Michael and George at the airport. The original plan was to have all carry on but we decided to check some bags. I am much fonder of checking bags so that I can just carry my laptop or whatever around the airport.
Tim had bought his tickets way after us but he ended being in the seat right next to us. The plane ride was uneventful but longer than I expected for some reason. I rented a digiplayer to watch some movies to pass the time. There wasn't much to choose from but I did enjoy DISASTER MOVIE and THE ROCKER. I thought I would sleep more on the plane but that didn't happen either.
We arrived and waited for the shuttle to take us from the Terminal to the Baggage Claim.
Then from baggage claim to the rental car (which was an extraordinarily quick process), and we were on our way. I brought my GPS unit from home and once we get it working, it was a great tool. It was able to take us to a place that we enjoy often when we are in Hawaii,
Teddy's Burgers. They have been voted the top burger in Hawaii for the past five years and the burgers ARE amazing.
After a great lunch, it was on to our house that we rented in Hau'ula, known as the
Beach House in Paradise. We all settled in before doing a little playing in the water.
After hanging out and drying off, all of us except Michael headed into town to the FOODLAND to buy a few things, mostly snack stuff. We plan on doing most of our meals at the house but for now it was snacks and breakfast items. There is not much in the town of Hau'ula and we were informed that everything is totally closed on Sundays because it is a strong Mormon area. Good thing we plan on being in Honolulu on Sunday.
After getting back to the house and hanging out for a bit, we decided it was time to head out to dinner. This is our third trip to Hawaii and we have learned that local faire is not the best. Which is why we tend to cook our own meals mostly. Last night we wanted to go out and ended up at
Cholo's Mexican Restaurant. The food was very good and one of Griff's friends had told him about this place and said it was one of the best restaurants in the area and I believe it. I had Shrimp Tacos and they were very tasty.
By the time we got back to the house, we were all wiped out and went to bed.
Questions asked:
Today we don't plan on doing anything but hang out and swim and hang out and eat and swim and hang out and eat and maybe read a little.
