FLOSSING

Sep 29, 2008 21:55

Okay, I've seriously spammed this to almost everyone I know, but THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT and I've decided I must spread the word. Via my lj. Which rarely anyone checks. Which I use like once in a blue moon. ............ But no seriously this is important!!!

WHO DOESN'T FLOSS?

YOU SHOULD ALWAYS FLOSS, AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. Why?

THE BENEFITS OF FLOSSING
1. It cleans areas where your toothbrush can't reach. DUH.
2. It removes debris from the surface of your teeth and the gums.
3. It polishes the surface of your teeth.
4. It helps control bad breath.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T FLOSS.
1. Plaque trapped in your teeth hardens into tartar, which can only be removed by dentists.
2. Bacteria starts building up in the tartar, producing bad toxins that eventually lead to gingivitis, affecting the gums.
3. If the gingivitis is not treated, it can lead to periodontal disease, where the bacteria start to invade the bones of the teeth and can cause them to rot and fall out.
4. There have been studies that show periodontal disease increases the risk of a heart attack or stroke, aka LONG TERM DAMAGE TO THE HEART.

IN ADDITION, if you floss and see blood, this means you REALLY need to floss more because your gums are already inflamed and you may be in danger of gingivitis!!!

I HOPE I HAVE CONVINCED PEOPLE WHO DO NOT FLOSS TO FLOSS. I mean, honestly. It takes like ONE MINUTE AND DOES SO MUCH GOOD FOR YOU.

It's easy! Convenient! HELPFUL.

I was also made mildly horrified by the fact that two of my friends don't even own floss. Aghasdksjdl.

Other than that, uh. I don't really have much to say. I hope you all are having fun in college :D I should actually be doing hw now, actually...
