First of all, I would like to thank
kalijean for the blue dragon! That was such a sweet surprise to receive the other day!
Second, I have worked a little on some due South and Firefly fics, but I haven't gotten very far. I did dream up a rather delightfully cracky idea the other night though that I may have to write. Anyway, school has been keeping me busy, but I hope to get some writing in over spring break.
Thirdly, the writer's block looked fun today so here we go:
Today's Writer's Block is entitled "Ready For Your Close Up" and asks "You have been given an opportunity to have a movie made about your life. What actor/actress would play you? And what would the plot of the movie be?"
The movie would probably chronicle my high school years with a focus on living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Depression. The depression would color things, but the OCD would be the main driving force because that's kind of how it was and still can be. The OCD controlled so much of my life back then, while the depression just sort of cast a shadow over it all. It would be a moody, emotional piece. I think the average person has a lot of misconceptions about what Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is so I think it would be important to show how it really is, how it impacts absolutely everything. I'm all about educating people on the disorder.
This is me:
I don't have any pictures of me from high school on my computer as I didn't have my own camera then, but this is me when I graduated from college in 2009. Age 22. As you can see, I look quite young for my age.
Now, my first thought was Summer Glau...:
...because she plays crazy so well:
Yeah, I couldn't pick just one image.
Now, for reference, this is what I look like when I'm in the middle of obsessing/being compuslive:
I purposely worked myself into an obsessive state and took pictures of myself for a school project on myself. (I'm weird.) Then, I chickened out and did it on my family instead.
But then, I thought, Summer has features totally different from mine. I wouldn't quite call her exotic, but she's just not plain like I am. She does have a quiet voice, and I think she would probably do "shy" well, but something wasn't quite right. I think I just jumped to her because I love the character River so much and have identified with her in the past. Also, it seemed unfair to pick someone who would have to go backwards in time to play me.
I tried to think of young actresses. I don't know many. Fortunately, I do know one who I think would do quite well, although she's actually a tad too young at the moment. Elle Fanning:
The first photo is from a couple of years ago. The second is from 2011. Now, I realize I called myself plain above and I don't mean for that to carry over to the youngest Miss Fanning. I think she is a lovely girl. She does have simpler features than Summer Glau though. I don't know if simpler makes sense, but hopefully, you kind of know what I mean.
I already know she can play OCD, as her character in Phoebe in Wonderland had it, although the main diagnosis there was Tourette's. Unfortunately, I can't find any pictures of her where she's doing her compulsive things so here's one that just shows her little Phoebe's sadness.
But don't you think she looks like she could play shy, sweet, sad, intelligent, artsy, and dorky? She's 13 now and websites say she is 5'7 just like I was at that age. Give her a couple of years to get to high school and she may just be 5'9 like me! She just has to let her hair go back to her natural color or dye it darker, and voila!
I'm now feeling unsure about posting this, but I spent way too much time on it to delete. Please, feel free to ignore my rambling, but do check out Phoebe in Wonderland if the topic isn't triggery. (It's way better than the preview makes it look.)
