Weekend of James

On Friday after work, I got a train to Torquay. It took me five and a half hours to get there, in total; I was hoping to get an earlier train at Paddington, but I arrived at precisely the same tame as it was leaving. Arrived in Torquay at 11:30, played MAME roms with James until about 2am. We spent an inordinate amount of time playing Smash TV, for some reason.

The next day we walked into town and got a bus to Exeter. I was feeling slightly motion-sick and hungry when we arrived, so we walked to a Café Nero and had something to drink, and a panini. We took some ridiculous photos, which will probably end up on Facebook or Flickr, whenever I can be bothered to get them off my camera. I've got a real backlog of things to upload to Flickr. After Nero we made our way to the Exeter Phoenix, where there was a music expo on. There wasn't a lot to it, really; we got to fiddle around with a Tenori-On, which was pretty much the main reason we went, and messed around with some synths and a sweet software turntable set-up, but that was it. We arrived a bit late, really. We got something to drink, and left.

We then made our way to the cinema to kill a bit of time before the Bonobo gig. Gran Torino was on, so we saw that, and it was a lot better than I was expecting. Although, I knew nothing about it, so I didn't really have any expectations. But it was good! Next we had something to eat at Wagamama, which was average out of ten, except for the desert, which was above average.

Agh, I'm running out of time, and I need to go to work! Quickly, then: We arrived back at the Exeter Phoenix a little early, and had a drink. Eventually the doors opened, and we stood around for three hours listening to crappy DJs before Bonobo finally started. And he was great! Every bit as good as when we saw him back in 2006, although he hasn't released any new material since then. He did play one new track, 'Animals', which sounded excellent, and he played 'Recurring' this time, which I think was absent from his previous gig. Overall: Excellent out of ten! The gig finished at 1am, and we got home at 2am!

The next day we worked a bit on a new Don't Eat Sky song, but didn't make a huge amount of progress. And now I really have to go to work!
