I've made a certain amount of progress on a remix I've been working on for the Cancer fundraiser today. Not amazing progress, but more substantial than any I've made for some time. I've had my internet access turned off for the majority of the day, to try and reduce the number of distractions, but this was only partially successful, as I was playing Street Fighter IV for a while. I also spent a bit of time cooking!
At any rate, I've got all of tomorrow to do the same, and Wednesday morning. Since I'm talking about it, I may as post a few things about the fundraiser that it's for! Here's the official material:
The image links to a page with all the information about the fundraiser, along with a link for donating, should you feel like it. $10 will get you a copy of the album in mp3 format, whereas $25 will get you an actual CD! Along with my remix, which is in the style of Hybrid, James and I are doing a song as Don't Eat Sky, called 'My Life Isn't Complete Without Pears'. Best song ever?
James and I are in the 'and several others' category, which is a little depressing, but fair enough. What are our crowning achievements to date? I did music and sound effects for Gang Garrison II, which became relatively popular, but pretty much no-one listened to my other music because of it, and James had a song played on Irish radio, thanks to the lovely
Chequerboard. And that's it!
Speaking of radio, I sent an email to Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode during the week, and Simon read it out on air! It was just some garbage about Watchmen; Simon questioned my use of the word 'gotten', and Mark finished my last sentence, as he often does. Good times!
Last bit of news, while I'm here: I bought Maus on Saturday, and finished it off this morning. I guess finally reading Watchmen has given me a bit of impetus to get some of the graphic novels I've been meaning to read for some time. Maus is amazing, anyway.
