"Seems we're on two different wave lengths"

The weather was gorgeous yesterday. I walked into town feeling a little moody, and ended up buying two CDs (Curved Air - Air Conditioning and Clark - Turning Dragon) as retail therapy. It didn't help much. I ate at B, whilst reading 'A Wild Sheep Chase'. That didn't help much either, though it was less crowded than usual, and the girl that I had a bit of a crush on a while ago (Still do, I guess. I don't know what it is, she just seems so.. vivid) was there. She's clearly not the slightest bit interested in me, though.

After that I went to the Picture House. The guy at the desk was reading Haruki Murakami's 'Kafka on the Shore', but I didn't comment on it. Why didn't I? Anyway, I saw Persepolis, which did make me feel better. It also depressed me a little, as it made me realise that my life has been so mediocre in comparison to Marjane's, but what can I do about that? After the movie I started walking home, but passed a park where I saw a guy walking a practice tightrope he'd tied between two trees, people throwing frisbees, and others playing football. I decided this was something important, so I sat on a bench and read for a while. I don't know what it is about Murakami, but his characters have a certain emptiness that I find comforting. They're not heroic, they're often not even very purposeful, they're just guys that don't deal with things particularly well. While I was reading, an old Chinese couple sat next to me and ate Rich Teas. I think a girl took a photo of me.

Curved Air is my band of the moment. Progressive rock from the beginning of the 70s, with female vocals, an electric violinist and a tendency towards complex signature and key changes. What's not to love?
