I watched Little Miss Sunshine last night, and laughed my arse off several times (I had to take short breaks to re-attach it). Irreverent, absurd, and often touching. Great out of Ten.
I just got back from a showing of 2001: A Space Odessey, at the Picture House here. As mentioned before, I only managed to watch the first hour and 10 minutes last Saturday, so when I found out it was being shown, I figured I may as well do things properly. It was really impressive, too. I think I was about 13-14 the last time I watched it, and most of it went over my head. And.. well, I still didn't thoroughly understand what Kubrick was trying to get across in the last scene, but I'm a lot closer than I was before. I'll probably be thinking about it tomorrow.
Another thing I did today, entirely on a whim, was create a short music video. I was taking photos of a spider in the toilet (As you do), and also shot a bit of video of it moving its legs. When I watched it, I envisioned a piece of music that matched the movements, so that's what I spent the next 2 hours doing. I think it works well.
I put it on YouTube, but arachnophobes will want to steer clear.
Before I go to sleep (later than I'd like, again), I wanted to share a game I discovered on Friday, called Knytt. It's quite a simplistic platformer, but it has an incredibly charming visual style and atmosphere. Kind of reminds me of ICO, in that it builds up this atmosphere through suggestion and implication, rather than with dialogue and hand-holding (Er, even though hand-holding was the central premise of ICO.. that's not what I meant).
