Title: Cabin Fever
Archive: Main
Summary: Rain causes temporary insanity.
A/N: I was going to lead up to a drinking game, but the story got away from me. ^^;; Kind of pointless crack, mostly written because it sounded amusing in my head. Also doubles as a bribe fic - vote for me in the BBI contest, pretty please? ^^;;;;;;; Also, the weird thing is, there's a version of the rain song in Chinese, with identical meanings. Which came first? *wonders*

"Ame ame fure fure kaasan ga
Janome de omukae ureshiina
Pichi pichi chapu chapu la la la..."

Ed and Roy exchanged identical long-suffering glances over their mugs of coffee as Masuta and Al pranced about the house singing. It had taken Masuta the better part of the morning to teach Al the words, but once he got the hang of it, everyone knew the words within an hour. Even worse, there was no way to escape the torture, thanks to the torrential rain outside that was most likely flooding the lower half of Central.

Ed glared at the solid sheet of water pouring against the window; that broke his "I can't hear a thing la dee dah" concentration long enough for him to notice that only Al was singing now, and Masuta was staring at Roy, tapping a finger in midair thoughtfully. This can't be good...

"Al! How do you like the sound of this?" Masuta snagged Al as he pranced by yet again. They held a whispered conversation, most of which came from Masuta, with occasional queries from Al. When they turned back around to face the kitchen table, Al was struggling to keep his face straight, while Masuta's eyes were sparkling mischievously.

Masuta began, stifling a grin:
"Ame, ame, fure, fure, Roy taisa
Asa kara me no ode kanashii na
Pichi pichi chapu chapu chikokusuru!"

Roy twitched, narrowing his good eye suspiciously at the mention of his name.

Al took up the song hastily before Roy could react further. He sang a bit slower, but managed not to butcher the pronunciations too badly:
"Ame, ame, furu, furu, Riza chuui,
Taisa ni omokage yasashii na.
Pichi pichi chapu chapu la la la!"

"What was that about me?" Riza called as she came down the stairs bearing an overflowing basket of clothes to be sorted.

"Wait till you hear the end of this song!" Al called back excitedly.

"Oh boy..."

Masuta sang to the accompaniment of Al stuffing his head into a couch pillow to muffle his giggles:
"Ame, ame, ame, ame, haihakui ame
Taisa no shigoto ga susumanai
Chuui mo okotte DON DON DON!!"

"WHAT WERE YOU SINGING?!" Roy roared. Ed grabbed for the coffee mugs, barely managing to save them before Roy shoved himself away from the table and gave chase to the rapidly fleeing Masuta. Al rolled off the couch in gales of helpless laughter, but to his dismay Roy switched targets and pounced on him. "Tell me what that means!" Roy said menacingly. "Or I'll tickle the living daylights out of you!"

"No don't, ow, no..." Al managed to choke out between giggles, clutching his aching ribs. "Owww, nonono AAARGH AHAHAHAHA!"

Ed rolled his eyes and went over to Riza's corner of sanity to help sort the clothes. Maybe Havoc was right - rain did induce lunacy.
