[ota] On the Ninth day of Christmas....

Chicago had been grand; so much food, a lot of family time that surprisingly wasn't laced with cold expressions and frowns, shopping (he had to get a whole new suitcase to bring home the clothing Audrey and Aunt Debbie had simply insisted he needed), yet more food, and then the countless presents. However grand Chicago had been though, coming home ( Read more... )

"I think this time all the forcefeeding worked. Does this mean everyone here should move to the same standard, or should we just keep them away until the wardrobe change isn't so obvious?"

Don't mind the kid on the toddler-leash.

"Haha...." He'd only come home with an extra five pounds on his bones, but god save him from the extensive over eating that any time in Chicago was now sure to exhibit. It was not, however, a standard he wanted to start here. "Contrary to popular belief- I do eat, and everyone else's obsession over my weight is mildly disturbing."

But he is going to look at the kid on the toddler-leash a bit curiously before pointing. "New Addition?"

For Iggy's part, he hadn't actually been keeping an eye on how much (or little) weight Hadyn had gained, but he did know a thing or two about how Jewish mothers operated. "Saying that they do it because they care doesn't make it any better, does it?"

He tugs gently on the leash, not making the slightest difference to the way the child is buzzing around. "Only new in that this is the first time she's not in the company of her siblings or cousins. We're being forced into uncle and niece time. Say hi, Tabby."

Tabby magnanimously elects to ignore them both.

"No, no not really. Particularly when I am not even her child." He said with a smirk as he shook his head. "That aside, really, it was at least a fun visit."

As for Tabby, he just smirked a little before eyeing Iggy. "You sound like you've been stuck with the plague." Which, granted, Hadyn had never been overly fond of kids, but he did work with them. "Who came up with this idea of bonding?"

"Yeah? How many credit cards did you max out, then? Or was it a group effort?"

He looks down at Tabby, and his smile crooks a little. "My sister-in-law. Dear brother Abijah looked particularly stormy this morning, so I suspect they had a little spat, but she called in a favour so I couldn't really get out of the way of- Tabby, no, come here." Hadyn had better run before Tabby tries to climb him.

Hadyn was going to be a climbing post, having not realized what the kid was up to until he was suddenly latched on to. And by then his eyes had gone a little wide in surprise.

Then again maybe it was something he really needed to get used to- what with Zoe getting married.

"Woah, hey there..." He did need his pants to stay on, though, and not be pulled down by a wild child.

Hopefully he would get in enough practice by the time the first Fox kit started crawling. (Though Iggy did hope that wouldn't be for a long time yet.)

Tabby won't be getting any higher- Iggy's got his hands on hers, gently prying her off. "Sorry- sorry- c'mon, sweetheart, let go."

"Hey, no worries." He said, helping Iggy pry the iron grip of a two year old off his jeans. Smiling a little, he shook his head. "I have a gift for you too, man. But it was too big to drag back at the moment. So- You'll have to wait. Which I hope you are okay with?"

Once the girl's a safe distance away and not likely to get much further with Iggy winding the leash around his hand, he raises the other eyebrow. "Too big? Not that I don't appreciate it or lack patience but... what on earth is it?"

"Something large and ungamely. What else go you want from me?" It was, in truth, not that difficult to handle, it was just too large to bring with him on this round. And honestly? Who didn't want a blanket? A festive, fleece blanket.

"Just know that I debated long and hard on if you needed it or not."

People with no hearts, is the answer. And Iggy definitely has a heart. Probably also a mighty need for fleece blankets that he never knew he had before.

"Your thoughts are very definitely appreciated." He smirks and folds his arms. "However, you're still not getting your gift until Christmas Day."
