[ota] On the Ninth day of Christmas....

Chicago had been grand; so much food, a lot of family time that surprisingly wasn't laced with cold expressions and frowns, shopping (he had to get a whole new suitcase to bring home the clothing Audrey and Aunt Debbie had simply insisted he needed), yet more food, and then the countless presents. However grand Chicago had been though, coming home ( Read more... )

"Sooooooo?"

Maybe she had been told if she found him, to alert the relevant parties, but that didn't mean she was dragging him back to Henry any time soon, or at least not before hearing about Chicago, and how the presents went over. Theatre could wait. This was clearly much more important.

"He liked them. Even if he was slightly surprised by the Kindle...But he liked them." He said with a bit of a shrug and a small smile. "Probably easier when you only need to buy one gift a year for someone, I swear. Audrey and Debbie both seemed equally impressed with the gifts I gave them, as did his uncle. So all in all- success. I've already been invited back anytime I want to come to Chicago."

He was a hit, apparently. And a slightly exhausted one at that. He suspected that Debbie and Audrey had always been a bit disappointed that Elisha was gay (or bi-sexual, however one wanted to put it) and hated shopping, because they took an extreme liking to the fact that Hadyn did somewhat enjoy shopping for himself at least.

"Good, good. I'm glad." Delighted, actually. He'd be soon stressed, and she only hoped she'd been able to help enough. Looked like things had all worked out for the best. "Planning on making a return trip any time soon, or are you two keeping it to the holidays?"

She wasn't entirely sure how their thing worked, after all. Though to be fair, he own relationships had hardly been the meet-the-family types. Iggy had been an exception, but then, he had been for a lot of things.

"I'm sure I'll go back eventually, but no rushing back. Just...sort of figured fair was fair- Elisha's had to sit through more than his fair share of Novak or Bernard dinners." Though with Hadyn's family being on Deck (and having been so for many generations) it was harder to escape the 'meet the family' events.

"Happy to be home, though. I don't think I could have eaten any more food if I tried."

"Coming home is always the best part of a trip," she agreed. "But then, I've also been partial to the arriving." And the bits in between. What could she say, she liked traveling in general.

His last sentence gets a grin. "Oh? Did his family decide you needed feeding up?"

"Pretty much everyone I know is of the opinion that I need 'meat on my bones'." He said with a shrug. "Debbie used the phrase 'be more spoiled', however, which apparently included Elisha taking me on a shopping spree- for which he spent most of the time on the phone in a coffee shop while we wandered through stores."

It wasn't so bad, really, though at times he had vaguely wandered into the shop with a 'save me' expression on his face as Debbie and Audrey contemplated the next victims of the shopping spree.

"You've got a fairly thin build to begin with, but it's hardly unhealthy. Or it wouldn't be, if you didn't skip meals," she replied pragmatically. A brief shrug accompanies the words. She understands what it's like, in theatre. One either finds the time or they don't. After the show is over is when it's time for pigging out and sleeping for weeks on end.

"Shopping overload?" Only a little sympathy here. Shopping is one of her favorite hobbies, after all.

"So much shopping. And so much- you should try this on! Oh, buy that one." He smirked a little, "honestly, I thought Elisha was going to eventually set a limit...be he didn't." Which just made Hadyn feel a little weird. All of the things he'd pretty much come home with had been purchased by Elisha- his attempts to just say no were pretty much ignored entirely, after all.

"And I don't skip meals...." He started, then frowned. "On purpose, at least. But you've worked in that theatre. You know how it is."

"I am completely, utterly jealous." She's teasing, of course. Mostly. After all, who doesn't like being spoiled on long shopping sprees with no credit card limits. Aside from weird people who hate shopping, of course. "Clearly I need to find myself a rich, handsome man who adores me." As it was so very clear Elisha adored Hadyn. When the younger man was in the room, there was a certain look on the King's face one couldn't mistake for anything else.

"I know how it is, darling, but honestly, not everyone does. Most people have no idea what the theatre life requires of one, physically and emotionally. They only see so much of it from outside, you know?"
