Adrien's had a Good Afternoon. Because, you see, when one gets to spend the afternoon reading up extensively on the history of Henry VIII, it can hardly be a bad afternoon. A large iced coffee in one hand, a stack of books on the coffee table? It doesn't get much better than that.

...why. Why is this happening. He comes to say that he's going off for a few days, and he's met with this. Why can't he walk in on Adrien talking about normal things? Useful things? Things that aren't odd bits and pieces of British history?

"Reading about this era is enough to put anyone off marriage for a lifetime, love. He was almost 50 when he married his fifth wife, and she-- well, we don't know, properly, but we know for sure that she wasn't older than twenty. And then she was beheaded. Awful stuff." That earns a calm sigh. The odd things he suffers through for this friendship.

"Yes, well, she committed adultery. Not really her fault-- well, I suppose she wasn't forced into adultery - it's a long story." He write a few words next to the fifth circle on the board, then sets the marker down, whirling around to properly greet him. "It can and has been put on pause. How are you, dear?"

There's no real change in expression--tired is tired--but it being Adrien asking, the question does require an actual answer. That answer comes in the form of lifted shoulders and upturned palms before he resumes actual commentary.

"Going home?" He waves at a couch - take a seat, Cadogan - then begins to look for a good wine to pour himself.

Which, frankly, would do him a world of good, to actually be out in the world and doing something useful rather than staring at more files.

Oh. Adrien glances up at him, raising an eyebrow. After a few beats, he says, "Be careful. ... How long will you be there?"

His shoulders lift calmly.

Probably make him quiet and cold and tired, but at least in a happier way than he is now.

"Why would I worry? I'm not worried." He shrugs, shooting Cadogan an amused look. "Has there been much trouble, lately?"

That gets the habitual lip-twist and a bobble of his head. Things have been worse since the Arcana appeared in the first place. That he's been asked to go poke around? Isn't a sign they've gotten better.
