Exercise: Shopping List
The object of this exercise is to take a collection of ordinary objects and weave them together in a fic. For an outstanding example of how this works, check out 
pwcorgigirl's fic Sympathetic Magic.
Choose three of the following objects and incorporate them in a fic. Ideally they should be relevant to plot or character development, rather than just set dressing, but that is author's choice.

Cell phone
Keys
Houseplant
