You know, guys I was thinking...

Exactly what would make a good husband a good husband? And how do parents decide that?

Because I'm soon going to be fifteen and Dad's already pushing possible husbands on me.

Well naturally, love has to be involved. Mutual love and respect must be established.

A true man and husband should be hard-working, even-tempered, accepting of others, and capable of protecting his family and ensuring their prosperity.

So, he has to be strong? And hard-working. That narrows down a few of the guys Dad's been showing me.

I can't say I approve of arranged marriages, though. Love should come from the heart, right?

I've chosen my boyfriends for love but they've never lasted, though.

You're having an arranged marriage?

Yeah.

Doesn't everyone?

Quite a few of my classmates already have arrangements in that regard that were organized by their parents. I think it's different for commoners, though, you must be very high born.

Oh, yeah, I am. I'm a Fire Nation noble. Sure, I act more like a commoner than most nobles do but I ran away a few years back, to the circus.

If I wasn't so noble born, I'd never have met Azula.

Isn't fifteen a little young to be married..?

We get married at sixteen, but fifteen is the year to get ready, heh. It's kind of the transitional year.

You started that conversation, Azula! I wasn't even thinking about them before.

I know- I was only commenting on the fact that earlier you were saying that you were leaning more towards looking for a wife.

Well, it doesn't matter what I want. Not really--my family wouldn't have me marry a woman.

He should be someone you'd want to stay with for the rest of your life, naturally, but I don't know what that means for you.

I'm sure my parents will eventually start taking an interest in such things with me, but there hasn't really been anything yet.

Well, yeah, of course.

When you get to sixteen, I guess they will.

Really, anything else is just derived from that.

I probably have at least until I'm in my twenties. If I'm in college, I'm sure they'll respect that and not try to push me into something.

I guess that's because you're not on our world.
